WeTransfer vs MASV pricing for large files

WeTransfer and MASV price large files in opposite ways. WeTransfer sells monthly plans that cap how much you send and shows the prices only after you sign in, while MASV charges $0.25 for every GB that leaves its network after 15 GB free each month.

We make Tranzfer, a third option, so we've kept it to the end. Everything about WeTransfer and MASV here comes from their own pages, checked 9 October 2026.

How does each one charge?

WeTransfer sells plans with caps. Its plan limits page puts Free at 10 transfers or 3 GB in any rolling 30 days, and Starter at 10 transfers or 300 GB. Ultimate allows unlimited transfers of up to 1 TB each. On Free and Starter, a link stays up for 3 days at most. The pricing page asks you to sign up or sign in before it shows a price, so we don't quote one.

MASV bills by the gigabyte. Its pricing page gives 15 GB free every month, then $0.25 per GB. The charge applies when data leaves MASV's network, as a download or a push to connected storage. Files stay free for 5 days, then cost $0.07 per GB a month. Annual plans lower the rate: $58 a month for 250 GB, $110 for 500 GB, $215 for 1 TB and $410 for 2 TB, with a 12-month commitment, and unused data doesn't roll over. A credit card is needed to sign up, free tier included.

What does a month of sending cost?

Each row is a month of deliveries, each downloaded once, one live at a time. MASV is pay as you go. WeTransfer shows which plan the month needs, because its prices aren't public.

A month of sending WeTransfer plan it needs MASV pay as you go Tranzfer
1 × 50 GB Starter $8.75 $15 on Starter
3 × 100 GB (300 GB) Starter, right at its 300 GB cap $71.25 $15 on Starter
4 × 250 GB (1 TB) Ultimate $246.25 $15 on Starter
6 × 500 GB (3 TB) Ultimate $746.25 $29 on Pro

Two things move these numbers. If two people download the same MASV package, more data leaves the network; MASV's pricing page bills that egress per GB but doesn't spell out the two-recipient case. And Tranzfer counts what's live at once, so the same months cost more on Tranzfer if your deliveries overlap. The price calculator runs your own sizes and counts.

Which one fits how you send?

  • A few gigabytes now and then, to people who know the name. WeTransfer Free, if you stay under 3 GB and 10 transfers a month.
  • Rare big sends. MASV. A 50 GB delivery in a quiet month costs $8.75, and you pay nothing in a month you don't send.
  • Big sends every week. MASV's bill climbs with every gigabyte. WeTransfer Ultimate is a flat plan with a 1 TB per transfer cap by its help center. Tranzfer is flat too, and counts what's live at once.
  • Client upload portals, integrations, a desktop app. MASV has all three. WeTransfer and Tranzfer don't have MASV's portals.
  • Links that stay up for weeks. WeTransfer Ultimate keeps transfers up as long as you like. MASV charges storage after 5 days. Tranzfer links end after 14 days at most.

Where does Tranzfer fit?

It's the third option for people who send hundreds of gigabytes from a browser and want a flat bill. Plans are $15, $29 or $69 a month for 300 GB, 1 TB or 3 TB live at once, and every plan resumes an upload after a dropped connection, a sleeping laptop or a closed tab. We don't have a desktop app, portals or permanent links. The row-by-row versions are Tranzfer vs MASV and Tranzfer vs WeTransfer.

Questions people ask

Is MASV cheaper than WeTransfer?

For a few small sends a month, MASV can cost nothing, since the first 15 GB each month are free. WeTransfer doesn't publish its prices without a sign-in, so we can't put a dollar figure on the other side. Past a few hundred GB a month, MASV's per-GB bill grows with every send while a WeTransfer plan stays flat.

How much does MASV cost for 1 TB a month?

$246.25 on pay as you go, which is 985 GB at $0.25 after the free 15 GB. The annual 1 TB bundle is $215 a month with a 12-month commitment.

What's the biggest file WeTransfer can send?

WeTransfer's help center says Ultimate takes up to 1 TB per transfer, while its pricing page says Ultimate has no limit on transfer size. Free and Starter cap the total you send in 30 days at 3 GB and 300 GB.

Which one resumes a failed upload?

MASV keeps retrying through a dropped connection, but its help page says a closed tab or a crash in the browser means starting over; its desktop app recovers. WeTransfer's troubleshooting page doesn't mention resuming and says sleep mode cancels the upload.

Got a big one to send?

Tranzfer sends hundreds of gigabytes from the browser and picks up where it left off when the connection drops. Free holds 20 GB at once, no card.
